Seven Thousand Ways to Listen, Pine Manor, Southern California

April 19, 2013 @ 5:00 pm - April 21, 2013 @ 12:00 pm

“For years, I’ve been trying to explore and understand: How can we, being forgetfully human, remember we are of one human family? How can we stay awake and authentic when our wounds make us numb and hidden? How can we minimize what stands between us and our experience of life? How can we make a practice of wearing down what thickens around our mind and heart? How can this practice of staying authentic serve and draw strength from the Universal Whole while we are ever immersed and entangled in the moment of our lives?”

~Mark in conversation with Oprah

In this journey, Mark will open the work of listening on these levels. Our friendship with everything larger than us opens us to the wisdom of Source. This is the work of being. Our friendship with experience opens us to the wisdom of life on earth. This is the work of being human. And our friendship with each other opens us to the wisdom of care. This is the work of love. These eternal friendships are intertwined and inseparable. We need to listen for their wisdom if we have any hope of living an awakened life. These three friendships—the work of being, the work of being human, and the work of love—frame the journey of this workshop.Beloved as a teacher, poet, and storyteller, Mark, the New York Times bestselling author of The Book of Awakening, is a gentle guide on our journey to discover our personal truths. Using ancient and contemporary stories, poetry, journaling and dialogue, Mark will invite participants to befriend their own stories and listen for their own wisdom in this reflective and experiential gathering.

Location: Pine Manor is a small retreat center that supports spiritual and psychological exploration. It is nestled in the Cleveland National Forest and has small earthen buildings that invite our connection to mother Earth. Part of the draw of this retreat is the retreat center itself. Please visit Pine Manor online.
