The Exquisite Risk at Copper Beech Institue (June 12-14, 2015)

June 12, 2015 - June 14, 2015

Join Mark for a weekend-long retreat on the topic of The Exquisite Risk, at Copper Beech Institute. Learn more and register today.

The exquisite risk is a doorway that lets us experience the extraordinary in the ordinary. In these fast-paced times, the exquisite risk facing each of us every day is to slow down and still our own house so we can experience life rather than simply manage it. Considered “one of the finest spiritual guides of our time,” Nepo offers resources and skills on how to negotiate life and be present in the world without losing sight of who we are. Beloved as a poet, storyteller and teacher, Nepo shares his own spiritual path, including a battle with illness that helped him understand that only by daring to embrace all that life has to offer can we come to a deeper appreciation of its meaning and beauty. Unfolding topics such as “The Struggle to Be Real,” “There Are Teachers  Everywhere,” “The Rhythm of Kindness,” and “The Gift of Surprise,” Mark will invite participants to befriend their own stories and listen for their own wisdom in this reflective and transformational gathering. Using ancient and contemporary stories, poetry, journaling and dialogue, this retreat is an invitation to engage with profound and life-giving material that will deepen the way you perceive and relate.  “I have come to believe that we can only discover the capacity and meaning of our time on earth in the context of our struggles, in how we face and inhabit the challenges life presents to us. In this, courage is an applied art of spirit. It is not something we can manipulate, but only live into. One that we must, ultimately, inhabit alone, but one which we can enliven together.” Please join us and bring a journal. Tuition is $250 + Accommodations.
