How we take turns.
Mark will offer a yearlong journey over four weekends, exploring themes from several of his books, but centering on Drinking from the River of Light: The Life of Expression. This journey offers a chance to work with Mark in a smaller group setting as a way to deepen your own path over a year of your life. The aim will be to engender a live and safe space in which we can compare notes on what it means to be alive.
In this time together, we will explore how we are constantly being shaped by life into finer instruments of care and expression. The deeper we go, the more attuned we become and the more we join with everything around us. Regardless of what draws you, inhabiting a personal life of expression is its own reward, by which we strengthen our connections and find our way.
This journey is designed to help you personalize the way you take in life in all its varied mystery. We will explore Basic Human Truths, which describe the ongoing relationship between the forces of life and our human nature. We will also explore how these forces of life shape us, refining how we take in experience and how we turn what we experience into acts of care and expression. We will imagine how we can inhabit a lifelong practice of listening, expressing, and creating. And more deeply, we will examine the rhythms of wakefulness and sensitivity that open before us as we get closer and closer to life. Whether you consider yourself an artist or not, the hope, the goal—for you and me—is to wake up to life through our enlivened practice of expression.
I’m excited to be offering another yearlong journey. Being on journeys like this with you is the blessing of my life as a teacher. Nothing is quite like the space of tenderness and truth that arises when we are comparing notes on being alive. It is my hope that through our time together, you will personalize the practice of being human, so you can live closer to your core. It is my aim, through our company, that you will discover the inner resources and outer skills to stand more deeply in your life and better know your heart. It is my commitment that this journey into authenticity and listening will enhance your ability to integrate who you are with what you do in the world. My goal is that you will leave more whole, with a more enlivened sense of what it means to be a spirit in the world.

Kalamazoo is a big craft, micro-brew, etc. beer town. So many we can’t keep up anymore, but the most famous and oldest is Bell’s Beer. See this website, and pay attention to the Kalamazoo sites. http://www.beeradvocate.com/place/city/43/.
Tiffany’s (different than the breakfast restaurant) is also a good place for wine, cheese, etc. http://www.aatiffany.com/
